This quality antique Boot Scraper from early 1800's is American cast iron and measures 11 1/2 inches by 9 1/4 inches and 8 1/2 inches to the top of scraper. The pan is an attractive oval in shape, with ridged, scallop-like edges.

In the early days of America, mud filled the streets and posed a continual problem for homes and interiors, hence the ingenious invention of the Boot Scraper.

This Boot Scraper is in excellent condition and is of heavy cast iron.

Boot Scrapers were and are still used outside the front and back doors of house so guests could scrape off dirt and grime before entering the home. They work beautifully and every home should have one!

Besides their original intended use, many folks are using these wonderful bits of history as decorative pieces of art.
