Handwoven Rag Rug - Tan, Black, White Multi
---I used two contrasting fabrics in this colorful rug. One was a bright print of daisies and cherries on a black background; the second was a simple print of tiny rust colored roses on a tan background. Rainbow colored stripes run the length of the rug adding more color. The end result is a rug that leans toward the gold end of the spectrum, but with plenty of other colors to make it an easy fit for any color scheme. The fringe is black alternating with rainbow colors.

---This nearly square rug was designed specifically for use as an accent under a table or small chair, though its uses certainly go beyond that. My "Alternatives" pattern is one that utilizes two shuttles in the weaving process. Each shuttle is loaded with a contrasting fabric, in this case a navy print and a medium blue solid. The shuttles alternate across the weaving surface forming narrow stripes. This rug was woven onto a background of wide red stripes to give it more interest. A very clean and neat looking rug.

---The fabric I used in this rug is a dark paisley print of burgundy and deep gold on a dark avocado background. I wove it onto a light colored base with burgundy and white stripes. The result surprised me. While all the colors are still there, burgundy became the predominant color. The light colored warp strings give it some interesting texture—it reminds me of rope for some reason. The fringe continues the natural, burgundy and white colors.

---The fabric used in this rug was removed from two long window seats. Very light wear and the deep jewel tone colors made it a great choice for an unusual handwoven rag rug. The cotton fabric is a pattern of deep rust and gold flowers on a deeply colored background that is not quite wine, not quite violet. I chose to weave it onto warp threads of wine, deep sage green and violet stripes in varying widths and accented with very narrow natural stripes. The rich colors are sure to catch your eye. Fringe is wine, green and violet.

---I wove this rug using a pattern dyed fabric of country blue, red and cream stripes. The fabric felt like linen and produced a lot of threads when it was cut. Some of these threads peek out of the weaving, giving it a cosy, lived-in look. Accent stripes of red, yellow and blue run the length of the rug. A nice, small size for in front of a doorway or on a small porch. Fringe is a natural with red, yellow and blue.
